I'm annoyed at how united the factions seem to be. Are you telling me that a stone age tribe has managed to unite and spread their people all throughout the world while keeping them under control?

Not even outlanders should be capable of this, Hell we aren't. This might be too much to ask but I would like it if every settlement was its own faction with maybe a couple small tribal confederation and outlander unions made out of settlements clustered together.

Imagine how interesting this would be. No more are you dealing with a unified block of tribals or outlanders but rather with competing factions that you can play off of. It could even open the door to being able to confederate/subjugate such people and form your own proper faction. Would finally make the overmap worth generating.

I would imagine the faction system is very rough at this stage. I wouldn't worry about it too much yet.

I'd at least like to be able to control what factions spawn and how many before generating a planet. Be nice to control their relationships with eachother and the player as well.

The factions really don't matter the way you're thinking they might. This isn't Dwarf Fortress. The system might develop in the future; it does feel sort of like a placeholder.

I got a factions mod that adds like 99 factions a new faction mod makes 2 towns now. And they're spread pretty good.

Tip: You can "Re-Generate" the world and the factions type will change to a max of three per kind, so will the relation points, all from the same seed. Example: You can have 3 outlanders, or 3 tribals.

Having 3 outlander factions doesn't increase rate of traders bringing Bionics.

Back to topic. The current World generation system is total non-sense. The player has only 1 base and all other factions have 100 bases each. Why wouldn't any faction with 100 outposts go rape the single outpost new faction? And certainly, outposts should have a central axis instead of randomly scattered for defensive purposes, thin stretched empires should be hard to defend compared to well annexed outposts.

Yep, the current system is just of the "new" world travel system and only reflect the old faction system.
I bet at some further release there will be a new world faction system, when AI faction expand their influence with diplomace like in a 4X game.

But don't forget CURRENTLY the one and only main GOAL of your colony is to leave the planet, not to wipe all other faction out.
