OK guys. This afternoon I actually started  colony. I have  no idea  what I am doing yet. I did  get a  team together  based  on what I thought would be  my best survival rate. I have to make  more  notes  now and  study what my next move will be, so I saved  the game for now. Thank you so much to you guys who encouraged me  not to quit.

Save often.  Don't be surprised, also, if you have to start over a lot of times, we all did/do go through that ;).

Just relax and pretend you have the most violent, homicidal ant farm ever.
Thanks, belgord!

What I have  finally learned, now, is that this game is  not a easy fix, an easy win. It is  NOT a board game where I can pull a "james T Kirk of  the starship Enterprise" and  change  the  rules so that it suits  me. I have  played  the  board game Firefly for  two years, and  now I write my own game plans; have  changed rules of  engagement, and  so on. The  same  applies  here, with Rimworld as  I understand it now. Keyword is  RESEARCH. Research the  character strengths and  abilities. Research and  experiment with everything that I can click on. That is  how  I developed my high level of understanding of  Firefly. I have  always failed miserably with with computer games because I failed to understand that one  has  to research and  experiment, just as  it is with board  games.

And after you learned that, and made your first succesful steps.
After a few succesful colonies you can change the rules again and add mods to Rimworld.
That allow you to add Star Trek races at expample. But please DON'T use that mod at moment.
I just notice it myself, the mod isn't working correct.

And btw. computer games arn't for the kids only (i am 50+ too).
