Starting the thread off: quick sketches of my last colony's Starting members, plus the first convert.

Pinky, the sweet and tough housewife
Bennet, the trigger-happy loner doctor
Lady, the young and scrappy former noble
Mars, the "surgeon" who shoots to kill (and has zero medical skills, captured from a raid)

The colony has since grown by a lot, but these 4 members remain the most interesting ones.

I'm starting a new colony at work computer and want to try an illustrated journal thing later :)  Feel free to share stories of your most interesting characters if you'd like.  I may or may not add them to the doodling.

Excellent sketches!! I feel like they fit the atmosphere and style of the game.
I always see surgeon as "surgeon," since so many people with that title are terrible doctors.

Thank you!  Yeah, if I could get a dollar every time I see a raider who's a doctor/surgeon with disabled medicine skills...

New colony is up and running with 3 + 1 ladies already.  Meet Karen the school teacher.  She will need to use her common-sense and people skills to carry the colony to success.  She grew up in a shelter, and without digging too deep into the actual Rimworld lores I'm imagining it to be like a Fallout vault.  The "13" Tattoo on her neck is a nod to that.

I absolutely love these. This is exactly what Tynan must envisage goes through people's minds when playing the game.

This is what happened in my head while playing FTL!
not in Rimworld so far, yet.. Rimworld has less feeling of imminent death in the horizon for me =P

Edit: I always doodled my entire crew on a piece of tiny paper (much worse quality than Nyteblu's sketches!)
The amount of sad when they all burned to crisp being disabled too close to a sun oh god

The colony has ran into the biggest roadblock yet... a beautiful platformer called Ori and the Blind Forest came out some time last week and took away both my breath and free time.  Back to less gawking and more drawing though!

Meet Spiffy the plant-hugger and Hess the soldier bride.

Spiffy came from the same shelter as Karen, and was one of Karen's first students.  Karen quickly took the dreamy-eyed girl who had a much easier time talking to plants than people under her wings.

Hess was grown in a vat, not unlike a plant.  This would explain why Spiffy quickly formed an unspoken bound with this silent lady after the crash-landing.  Hess wears a plain wedding ring but never talks about her husband.

First addition to the colony: Alice the depressive but brilliant loner.

Alice refused to talk, as usual.  She sat on her bed, shrinking from the dim light cast from the crude, buzzing lamp.  She had been in that exact pose for more than a week now, other than occasionally sleeping or eating.  Karen couldn't help but remember the day Alice was captured a month ago.  The skinny girl, barely more than a child, greeted her with fearful but determinedly unfriendly eyes.  Even as Karen welcomed her into the colony, there had been an air of suspense over the whole affair.  Karen had a feeling this was not going to be an easy transition.

Karen hoped that she had built some semblance of trust in the Alice before the girl suddenly broke down crying in the darkness caused by a solar flare.  Trying not to question her decision to drag the hysteric girl back by force, Karen gently chattered on about the happenings around the colony like she would do every night for the past week.  Alice never responded, but when Karen looked up from the floor, she found the dark eyes of the girl directly looking at her, as if seeing her for the first time in days.  When Karen stood up to leave moments later, Alice followed without a word.

These are spectacular! Keep them comin', yo! I'd love to see your interpretation / extended biographies of strange life choices. You know the kind - the Vatgrown Soldier turned Entrepreneur; he'll sell you that car you've always wanted! to death!

Journal 01: First Blood

The laughter was cruel, with a hint of insanity.  Karen shrank back behind the rock wall, holding her pistol tight.  This was not her first fire-fight, and she shouldn't had been so scared.  However, there was something strange in the advancing man.  Karen had struck him at least a couple of times, yet the man's only response had been a hail of bullets of his own.  Desperation or madness?  Karen did not know, but she felt an overwhelming sense of powerlessness.  Retreat, or keep shooting?  Karen's hands were cold and sweaty.  She tried to keep her hand from shaking.

A scream pierced the air, and abruptly turned into a gurgle.  Startled, Karen poked out of her cover.  In the dim moon light, she could barely make out the face of the tall figure standing over a slump on the ground.

"Hess!" Karen cried out in surprise.  Karen did not see Hess creeping up behind the stranger at all, but there she was, her army knife in hand.  Hess regarded Karen without any expression.  For an instance, Karen felt like she was looking at something inhuman... a machine.

"Threat eliminated." Hess said with a clear voice.  Then she looked down at her knife for a moment, sheathed it back onto her belt, and began walking back.  As the square-shouldered woman walked past Karen, Karen thought she saw a faint smile flash across that usually emotionless face.

Not only is the art incredible, so is the story telling! Compared to a good quantity on this forum which is enthusiastic but also appalling. Keep them coming c:

please, please keep them coming. :)
On the right path, but the wrong medication.

I like how there's a thing that displays how long you've logged in to the forums. It shows just how many hours you've spent here, never to get back...

This is such a cool thread! I love your art style too man, very talented in my opinion. Sparkles the Jeweler lol how fitting. Honestly, it'd be great to see a comic of some kind in this style for Rimworld.

What Saint said!
you don't even have that "sameface" syndrome I see all the time, which I find the most remarkable about all these
