Well i had Rookies who ate a plasma from a sectoid each time i play that game or a blaster launcher jumps into the skyranger... ( Both in the 1994 original and 2012 reboot but mostly in the original game and TFTD...)

And the death count in XCOM after saving earth and defeating the alien menace is 7324 dead XCOM operatives... they were stupid rookies who always hit the broadside of a barn from a stormtrooper marksmanship academy and some were also terran federation mobile Infantry and imperial guardsman deserters and cowards valiant heroes who fought the endless unending alien hordes...
