[REQUEST] Mod to Choose Colonist's Backstory?

Would be nice, just saying... and if in future traits play a larger part that would be pretty sweet also.

Having some way to allocate the skillpoints into various categories would be sweet too.

I am wanting to make a let's play but don't want to have to re-roll the characters too many times every time I restart so this mod would REALLY help me out.

As I'd like to play as vanilla as possible before going crazy with mods... it would be appreciated if someone could help me out. I mean, I think part of the charm of Rimworld is having the AI fuck up your day!

I'll help you out.

Start a new colony (completely ignore the colonists the game gives you), save the game as soon as it starts (before the droppods land) and upload the save file here (zip it up with something first, like 7-zip.)
Then tell me what you'd like changed about the colonists, what you what their stats to be, age, gender, everything.
I'll change them then re-upload the modified save.

The changes I'll make will only affect that save, so you'll still be playing vanilla RimWorld.

Thanks for the offer but a mod to be able to select the story would be much better...

I know this may sound dickish but I'll have a poke around in the save files myself and try and do what I want like that ^^

I'd rather learn than have someone do something like that for me, I mean I am guessing it's fairly easy... just looking for a named value and changing the number next to it, right?

That's it exactly. The thread Galileus linked above will show you how to find the part that references colonists, and what values can be changed therein.

I fully encourage you to poke around in the save file. The level of control you have over things in-game is quite remarkable, and definitely is fun to play around with.  ;D

Yeah I was able to change the colors of my pawns skin, hair, and clothes by editing the RGB numbers in the save file. Pretty cool  ;D

 ;D, Thanks for the infos ItchyFlea. I'm a fan of setting up 'situations, or scenarios' with my colonies to give each its own personality.
