Bug? It is not possible to do surgery on guests

After rescuing a colonist from another faction, he had lost a leg. I couldn't operate. Kept feeding him but he couldn't leave.

I think is a bug or a feature to implement.

Not a bug I believe, but as you said, a feature that just isn't implemented yet :)

It can become quite an issue, where you basically just have to let them starve.

Probably not a bug, it would be nice if we could install legs to them at least, not to be allowed to remove their organs or bionic parts though.

wbonxx

In theory we should be free also to extract organs from them!

Installing a peg leg to let him leave has to be there.

Also an option to chat and convince to stay could be a feature, maybe the guest could get in love with a your lady from the colony.

Allowing general surgery, just like colonists without limitations I see as needed.  My good (peaceful/friendly) colonist rescued a no leg who then couldnt leave.  I ended up building a med bed surrounded by flowers where he was to starve to death.

Pegleg, brain injuries etc.  The ability to euthanize without penalty would be handy.  So have all of em while person is in your care.  Organ removal=bad will as is install pegleg/dentures where not required.  Amputation of infection no penalty.  There are a few criteria that result in permanent bedridden.  These are the brain injury/spine or both legs missing/peglegs or combination.  That should also allow euthenasia.

If you install a prothstetic or bionic in a limb lost, get given an even greater boost when healthy leaves map!

Yeah i disagree now with what i said, now that i think more it should be allowed  to take them apart, but if you take them in and they don't leave, you should get a really big negative relation towards that faction. This seems more practical, Or maybe even change it so that depending on what you do to them, you'd get more or less negative or good relation. You could install bionic arm on them and if they leave the map with it, you could get a huge relationship boost  towards the faction.

Had a similar issue with a guest with a destroyed spine.  The caravan he was a part of wouldn't leave because they were waiting on him.  Every time he would try to get up to leave,  he'd just fall the floor.  Only fix is to starve them out or kill them that I have seen.  His caravan's Muffalos were quite tasty.

I have observed several players on Youtube completely befuddled at not being able to install a pegleg on a prisoner whose leg had been shot off, not realizing that option never appears if you do not have any available wood.

I do not remember having yet had a situation needing me to replace a visitor's leg, so I don't know for sure that it is not a bug, but I would humbly suggest you check to make certain you do have some wood.

You dont have the ability to perform any surgeries on visitors.  And if they cannot walk to leave after they are healed, they will collapse from the medical bed as soon as they try to leave. So destroyed spine and missing legs will make the visitor never leave.

Hmmm ... if you capture such a crippled guest, I presume you get a relations hit with their faction.  But if you capture them, perform the surgery, and release them, is there still a net hit or does the release diplo bonus zero out the hit for capturing a friendly?  I know its no substitute for Tynan and his coding crew fixing this oversight in A14, but considering how long there was between A12 and A13, I expect it'll be awhile before we see A14 so might as well figure out some workaround for these bugs/oversights in the meantime.

A prisoner leaving map healthy gives you 15 points.  I am not sure the deduction on bad will, but I went from green to like a -60 something arresting one person out of a two visitor group and second one wasnt killed but only disabled and released.
