Sorry, I checked the wiki and tried to search for some answers but i can't seem to get the butchers table working? I have dead muffalo, squirrel, and even *smacks lips* raider. Anyone else having issues?

Did you check the video posted on the main page?  It looks like you need the correct stockpile areas and an assigned cook.  (Haven't tried it yet myself, still at work :) )

Make sure:

-Someone is assigned cooking
-Cook isn't busy doing higher-priority work
-There is a bill set on the table
-The ingredients aren't further away from the table than the bill's max ingredient distance (default 15)

Ah Yeah i didn't have a bill set. New features are confusing and scary!

Something of a continuation of this problem.
I got the use of the butcher table just fine, but after about half an hour, I could not get my colonists to continue on and cook the meat or veggies. And yes, I did have a bill for both, a cook set, and the find radius sufficient to pick up the ingredients.
Also having trouble getting the colonists to begin growing anything. They'll sometimes do this on their own, but there is no command for it.
Am I just missing something, guys?

Tynan

They'll do things in priority order, so they may just be doing something higher priority.

Also note that non-simple meals require both veggie and meat ingredients.

Sorry to zombie, but this seemed the most relevant place to ask, as I couldn't find a newer topic.  I have a butchery table with corpses all around it, and a cooking table near by, with crops slightly further away, and 1 cook. The cook always seems to prioritise making meals rather than butchering first, despite the tables being set up right (I can force prioritize).
My question is, how can I make cooks do the butchering first so as to not have to micromanage them? My colony can't afford a second cook yet.

Wex

You wait. At the end the cook will butcher them.
Or you can assign a random colonist to cook.
If you are doing fine meals, a 3 cooking pawn won't cook, but will handle all the butchering in the colony.

I have 1 cook, very few colonists so cant get one of them to join in. If i leave the cook to do his own thing for a few days the corpses just sit around until they rot and get move to a different location.
Is it a case of being physically unable to force a single cook to do the butchering first, then make meals?

I don't know of any way to make them automatically butcher before cooking.

Why is your cook making meals all the time? If you aren't using "do until you have X" for meals, you probably should.
Some sort of psychic wave has swept over the landscape. Your colonists are okay, but...
It seems many of the scythers in the area have been driven insane.

:o that's a thing?! that will most certainly help. thank you sir.

Another way could be suspending the cooking bill untill the butcher work is done. But yeah the "Do until you have x" is far more usefull instead of the "Do forever"

Also, it is tediouis, but you can click on your cook and then right click on the butcher table and choose Prioritize buthcering. It will probably only do one animal at a time, but its better than rotting.
