Worst skilled people to join your faction?

I made this to found out how common are people in rimworld, that have low set of skills (few skills, all low level). Recently started new Loner game on a17, and after 5 days a guy joined from local faction. He had armor and everything and I was like "oh cool" until I noticed his skills. Case in point, he used to be a model, which somewhy blocks everything from doctoring to crafting. It adds to social and artistic skills though, and he has 3 points in Animals.
So the guy has
-8 Social
-3 Animals
-8 Artistic

And my poor explorer has to make everything while this guy just paints, cause well, I won't let such low animal skilled pawn near even home dogs.

Have you had pawns with just two or three skills?

You need to use the "search" feature of the board... there have been countless discussions of how awful so many pawns are.

Example: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=30224.105
If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

Why not let him handle dogs ? There is no penalty for failure with such pets, only some wasted food. His skill will improve. Think about the long term. Would you rather have an artist or an animal handler ?

I get a lot of pawns that aren't super useful as well. Luckily a decent amount of them have a thing or two they can help out with.

The worst is when you get a pawn that does the same things as another, which you don't need another pawn for those purposes, and they aren't nearly as good at it.

Someone who's almost strictly an artist can still be useful, albeit another one that relatively sucks at it is basically pointless (and increasingly so the more artists you have).
Should I feel bad that nearly half my posts are in the off topic section?

Actually, artists can drive a large portion of your economy, later on, as well as generate huge amounts of joy/good moods.  They're not even close to worthless.
Thanks, belgord!

Canute

When he got a passion at aristic or another skill he is never useless.
And even if he can't shoot, he works as target-dummy.

Can the model haul ? If he can, he's really not that bad. Haulers are useful after raids or during harvest.

Canute

At vanilia some haulers are allways useful, since animals don't haul that much like a pawn would do.

If he has a passion in animals, train him up. I once got a sheriff who was also incapable of everything except violence, animals, social and artistic. However, she had a passion in animals. Fast forward 4 in-game years and she has a skill of 17 (she might have had 19 at some point) and has single-handedly trained a small army of wild boars (now there's another animal handler to help out though so she usually just makes artwork now).

He has no animal passion and he doesnt haul. My other guys have to even set up painting workshop items for him. Right now got only one dog, if I could I'd buy a new one, since my current dog does like 30% of hauling work lol
