I made this account just to ask this question, so I know in advance if I should bother starting with mods and whatnot.

I am not very experienced with modding overall, but I've been enjoying this game and I do want to give something to the community as well, but in the case that I fail at making a functioning mod, are modding resources in any way shape or form appreciated? I wouldn't mind dumping a bunch of textures for more knowledgeable people to use in their mods.

If you should use mods or not is only one thing.
There are many different kind of mods
- Improve the User interface (UI) in some way, like extra windows/tab for animals, wildlife and medical. Or different view of the Research tree.
- Change the handling of animals, visitor and caravans.
- Add new things like weapons, armor,Races.
- And can even complete change the whole gameplay.

If you get bored with the standard (vanilia) game, you should give mods a try.
Add a new race, maybe some weapon/armor mods. And start a new colony with this race.

I'm sure any contribution you cared to make would be appreciated by someone.  :D

Basic XML modding really isn't  terribly difficult.  So don't assume you won't be able to do it just because you don't have any prior experience.

But if your main interest is in textures and graphics, rather than in creation of an entire mod, you might want to take a look at the modding "help" thread.  There are often modders looking for an artist for one project or another, and of course you could also advertise that you're an artist looking for a modder to work with.  ;)

Agree with this, and I'd also add that if you are interested in creating a specific type/subject of art put that in there as well. You may inspire someone to join you in creating a mod. I'd certainly make sure to include you are open to any art as well if that is to your liking. Woudn't want anyone to skip asking you just because they thought you were locked into one thing.

Thank you very much for the kind replies, I won't lie, I wasn't expecting any at all because I just literally appeared here.

Well, to just add onto what you guys said, I would prefer to release my own mods and bear my own load rather than have someone else get criticism for things I made, I am not exactly a good artist, I'll show an example I did while waiting for replies.

But, thank you for the mood lift regardless, I'll try my best.

Best of luck, looking forward to see what you make!
