Raiders use attack animals.

I've always thought it was quite odd how your colony use animals, AI caravans use animals but raiders don't.

Pirates and tribals both seem like the kind of fellows that would employ beasts of war when they're raiding. I think this would make raiding parties a lot more diverse from time to time.

Yup :) It would probably spice up raids a little more too.

Its a great idea.

Raiders having several dogs, wargs, wolves - seems very fair.

How about some Caravan animals with supplies for the raiders.. or are they just a horde of murder hobos passing through ?
Maxim 1   : Pillage, then burn
Maxim 37 : There is no overkill. There is only open fire and reload.
Rule 34 of Rimworld :There is a mod for that.

More like bullet sponges, because animals move faster and turrets will be busy with animals, not with a guy with a rocket launcher.. plus even 2-3 elephants will greatly affect enemy strength

Raiders should have animals with release, but because they travelled all their way to us, they should also have pack animals carrying the same items we player do too, which includes several days food, meds, some materials and bedrolls. But if we do this, the raiders should also be lacking "Joy" as our caravans do. And if they happen to have night owls, the daytime action should also make them go mental.

Beastmasters would indeed be interesting: tribals could have wolves and pirates could have wargs, or something similar to that, but they shouldn't be too common since they'd probably make raids far too lucrative

There used to be a mod for that, but it's not updated to B18.

But in fact i'm in support of this suggestion!

I'm excited to see raiders use animals in the core game!

Pirates using wargs and wolves and sometimes panthers/cougars or uncommonly boomrats, Outlanders using only dogs instead but Tribals being the ones with nature's tongue or just knowing how to tame and handle animals efficiently are going to bring elephants, cougars, rhinos and wargs into the mix are going to be interesting to see in the core game.

Maybe a new raider pawn type Beastmaster or a Packmaster that controls or handles them can become a priority target? :D

One "happy family" in the rims...

it seems preatty cheap to implement too
And as always.. sorry for my bad english

beastmasters could have plenty of bonded animals, so the beastmaster would get saved if downed and transported off map and if killed the bonded animals go crazy xD

also, raiders should have pack animals with them and stuff packed onto them, but never actually attack with them. they would wait and graze until the fight is over, only proper attack animals like cobras would charge in.
yeah, attack animals should have trained release, pack animals nothing and all intelligent and strong enough animals should be able to save their people, which would make for even more fun fights :)
surely you dont need to rebutcher corpses that you already half butchered if you leave the table to smoke a joint real quick?

And then we have the "raiders' animals run ahead of their allies, absorbing their friends' shots to save our colonists" phenomenon. Which is exactly the same thing as if colonists released animals from their side of the crossfire to attack the enemies on the other side while shooting at them at the same time.

Then, to fix this, devs would have to make a new flanking AI for the beastmasters. But the game would have a hard time detecting a viable flank anyway so that would be half-broken as well...

This suggestion sounds nice on paper but is a lot harder to implement properly than people think. And since devs have stated no entirely new game mechanincs after B18, it'll probably be left unimplemented for now.

It would definitely be interesting, though.
