Do NPC pawns not have families anymore?

After 2 in-game years in B18 and several dozen raids and visitors later, I had just noticed I never once got that pop-up where I'm warned of family in raids that I used to get in previous versions all the time.

So, after a quick new test in a new game with minimal mods(stuff like new hair or whatever ...) I dev-moded in some 10 different 3000 point raids and with All Relationships in the social tab checked, I couldn't find a single family member in any of the 100 or so enemy tabs.

I swear in previous versions when I captured enemies they would then often have family members come try and save them or something. But now, everyone is simply an acquaintance.

If that's the case, does anyone know of any B18 mods that aim to add this in?

I was just about to post the exact same observation. It's been three games playing the latest version and not one relative anymore. Looks like Tynan pushed the changed all over.

Its my fault!

As you can see the chance was turned down as it seemed to be just four families constantly feuding over Rimworld. I suspect the chance has dropped a lot. Which is nice.

Aha.
I suspect it was tuned all the way to the opposite end because absolutely no one is related now. Seriously, spawning 1000 raiders not 1 of them is related.
Well, it's not a huge deal since I found the mod One Big Family which helps fill that niche and it has a setting to disallow more colonist relations. Though I seem to be getting a lot of raiders with multiple wives, and fiances ...

Scrabbling

I find it sad. I liked relatives and exspouses showing up and imagining the background stories. It was a bit too frequent in the old version but I had not even one relative in the new version which is way worse. I thought it was just coincidence but now that others confirm it, I'd really like this change adjusted or reverted.

kaleidx,
just curious, what scenario did you start.
I don't made much sense when crash landed pawn from another solar system, with hundert of years in cyro got relations at the planet they crashed.
Ok, maybe it was a settlement ship that crashed.

I am hoping to rebalance this a bit. We may have overtuned it just a smidge...

I wander how much a "bit" is in Tynan's measurements...

So far I have observed a family member in a raid exactly once in B18, over the course of 7 in-game years and with a large (100+) colony. So it can still happen, on very rare occasions.

Well I start my own custom scenario but that's not really the point ... it's NPC pawns like guests, caravans, and raiders who I'm sure been on the planet a long time (like the description says for factions like tribes) that no one is related. No spouse, child, or cousin anywhere.
Also, I don't know why but some relations like sibling relation was also removed from dev mode so even adding them that way is a hassle ...

Damn, I guess I should switch over to Randy then.

Oh well like I said the only real thing I liked about it was having family members come try and rescue captured family or something.

BoogieMan

I haven't seen any relations yet either.

They were far too common in A17, but now I don't see them at all. From one extreme to the other, but I'm much more okay with this way of doing it.

ison

You're right, the chances have been overtuned a little. They should be more reasonable in the next release.

In the endgame raids with relationships and "Refugee Chased" event with relative hapen quite often. Don'tknow why - either because raids are that big or just because the pool of pirates gets exhausted by deaths in previous raids.
