Whatever happened to animal migrations?

I completely forgot those events existed. I've never seen a single on in 1.0. Were they removed?

Wanderer_joins

I've had a few of those. They are rarer and have been nerfed, but a herd of muffaloes meant meat for ages.

DubskiDude

Weird. I've played 1.0 for at least 30 hours and I haven't seen a single migration.

Greep

I think they only exist in tundra now.  And they're super small.

Aw, they were super fun events. Ignorable if you wanted, but you could take the risk to fight them - yes fight, with so many animals it was really dangerous to get a mass revenge.

With hunting stealth being a thing now I do kind of get why it would be a problem though.

Of course the event could be redesigned so they always revenge-attack when you hurt them.

Why only the tundra? It's fine if they're small but I feel like animals would migrate through other biomes on occasion too. Also 60-70 hours in and I still haven't found a migration.

Greep

Also sea ice apparently.  I guess it's just extreme biomes.

I had a chinchilla migration on the tundra. I have no idea what they were doing there.  :o

RawCode

migration is here, still it's somewhat complicated to exploit it, as animals do not trigger traps.

Teleblaster18

I haven't seen a single one in 1.0, in over 150 hours of 1.0 play.

Thunder Rahja

I get them in the desert during winter maybe once a year. I think migrations happen only when there isn't sufficient grass/plant life on the map for a while. Most of the time I have between 0 and 5 animals otherwise depending on the season.

They never did, unless they were aggro'ed.  Has that changed in 1.0 (they will or won't trigger traps when aggro'ed)?

Koek

I ate all the animals, so none are left for you. Sorry :))

it's not about change, it's about "you can't automate hunting"

haanuman

I thought they didn't exist but reading the answers above it seems that they are very rare :O
