South Alligator Sea might be more appropriate but I suppose it is 'north' of the Great Dasai Expanse  ???

The thread title promised more than 1 example. I feel cheated.

Honestly,
from a global view you might be right.
But discoveries and naming arn't made global. They follow a local timelines.
Prolly a local tribe clan just named it "north aligator sea" because is it north of their camp.

If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

well, maps can always be written/read 180 degree reverse no?
'North Alligator Sea' seems rather north actually xD

Clearly, this world was once home to one of those "Super-ancient-polar-but-totally-not-Atlantis" civilizations that my Youtube suggested videos keeps telling me are out there. To them, the North Aligator Sea was the great frontier between their frozen paradise and the barbarous hordes in the temperate zone.

A pity: they ran out of steel on their map and couldn't make enough components to keep Hydroponics going. RIP ancient civilization.
