I got the download email about 20 min ago and I'm not a tester. May just be taking a while to send all the emails out

I have downloaded it right now too. I didn't receive my SendOwl message yet, because that can take a few hours until they are send, but when I used my old download link I got the alpha 8 release.
Most likely it just takes a while until it is provided by SendOwl. But my counter isn't reset yet, so..

just for the heck of it, I clicked on the un-updated download (the download counter said that I only had 3 downloads left) and am currently downloading a8

Hang on to your download link.  You've got it in an email from Ludeon (it's at Send Owl).  That download link is always valid.  The email comes after the announcement (a few hours to a couple days, IIRC), but you can always use your unique download link which never changes.  I'm downloading it now without waiting for the email!

I didn't get it, I just used the old email for alpha 7c and it downloaded alpha 8.

Seems okay to use the old email link, assuming you don't do like I do and download it to each computer, tablet or phone (for safe keeping) to where you use up the 5 limit.

But for some strange reason I usually get my new link really early in the morning when it comes out.  But make sure you guys that are waiting on the email check your spam folder as one of the first emails that I got for sendowl ended up in my spam box (which at the time was receiving over 150 spam messages per day) but now they show up in my inbox.

I don't usually get release emails for awhile, but (to echo other posts) older download links you have should work just fine.
