The bamboo texture seemed kinda busy and distracting so I came up with this, if you like it feel free to use it, if not (or I did it wrong) let me know!

Ps: I can't figure out how to use the insert image tool to make the screen shot bigger than a thumbnail :( insight into this is appreciated

First, how to insert images. You need to upload the image to a server such as imgur.com or something. Then once that is done you put the url of that picture inside the [ img] tags (without a space between the first bracket and the word of course) So an example would look like this [ img]www.imageservername.com/image.jpg[/ img] I personally use imgur because once you upload the image they put a box to the right that gives you various ways to display the picture such as the html code as well as the bbc code (the one needed for forums) so you don't have to do anything but copy/paste that in and don't even need to worry about typing the [ img] tags out.

As for the bamboo, it looks good so far. I'll test it out in a game and see how it looks before I decide whether or not to use it though. But if I do then I'll put it in v4.0 and add a credit to you on there. Thanks for taking the time to do that and sharing it. :)

Thank you for the advice. And any constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated on my texturing ability (I want to be helpful, not a pain in the rear end)

Tried to buy a bionic brain pal from a local trader that showed up and hitting the accept button insta closed rimworld. No error messages or crash reports from windows, it honestly seems like it literally closed... Are there any known compatibility issues with other mods and the hi rez graphics version of this mod? I also haven't installed MAI yet either.

Mods I was using are: Advanced Lamps, EdB Interface, Edb Prepare Carfully, Guns+, Hobo Stove, Power Switch, RTGs, Stone Cutting Tweak, Temperature Controle, Turret Collection, UV Ground Lights, Vas's Conduit Explosion Nullifier, And finally Xtra Plants...

Agreed. Needs to be a timer on corpse organs before they're useless.

Maybe use the time till it gets rotten.

If you freeze the corpses though you would have an almost unlimited supply of organs which would A: be kinda cheaty I think and B: be unrealistic due to the fact you would have major cell degradation from freezing them. Using the "dead for" counter might be a better bet since I do agree that the organs should still be good for the first day or two...

This is what I could pull off this morning while getting used to using gimp. not sure what perspective you want since rimworld seems to use front on for some things, 3/4 top down for others, and top down for others still. will make a 3/4 version some time today hopefully. If you like this one, awesome, if not, suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated since this is my first crack at making a rimworld texture.

If anyone would actually like to use this feel free, if you have suggestions for improvement they are much appreciated from anyone with experience... or anyone at all actually :p

I will have a go at making a texture for the wood heater. Was also thinking of making a 2x1 texture for the industrial heater modeled off a torpedo heater unless you have one already, at 150,000+ BTUs IRL I'd say they're pretty industrial. As a benchmark, the furnace for my entire house is only 60k.

Well I've been using photoshop but if you don't wanna pay for it gimp is free and just as good

Anyway it's nice to see so many people wanting to help each other out, RimWorld certainly has an amazing modding community. And that industrial boiler Loki is an amazing idea!

Thanks Rilamus! will be giving it a try to see if two years of tech design classes paid off or if I've forgotten everything :p

The boiler and my wood heating suggestions are just me being peculiar about heating, I grew up in the boonies and days long power outages were common in the winter so we heated with wood. By extension I don't think you could get more "boonies" then crash landing on some unknown planet so for me it just fits!

Awesome looking mod, going to give it a try later tonight. Are you considering expanding this to utilize different heat sources such as an industrial boiler? Something that would require a hopper for feed stock to burn but no power, but inefficient with fuel to balance it a bit?

Also what programs do you guys use to make textures? My coding ability is crap but I can give textures a whirl to see if I can be at least a bit helpful.

Mods / Re: [Mod Request] Wood Heating

This might actually be a good idea for an expansion to the hobo stove mod. The hobo stove could be the base tech with a proper wood stove as an upgrade through research and then a wood fired boiler as the final stage of no power heating.

Or something like fire pit --50--> hobo stove --200--> wood stove --800--> boiler...

I just feel like vanilla heating needs to be fleshed out a bit more then just a temporary fire and an electric heater. The hobo stove is an awesome first step to that (minus my own derpness in getting it to work :p )

Is it possible to port this to Alpha 8? It would be awesome if the rum could give them a tiny bit of "warmth" factor or something (feel the burn as she goes down!)

Awesome thank you! The wood heating would still be a fun idea if the urge ever strikes you, it's a bit of nostalgia growing up for me. Plus I really want to try and make a tundra colony that use 0 electricity except for maybe the comms console.

I really appreciate your fast replies!
#507
If I don't use it to cook my colonists never turn it on (I have a single cell stockpile next to it set to important for wood)

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I want to use them just for heat, that's why I wrote the mod request for wood heating.
Thanks in advance!

The hobo stoves only heat when being used to cook :( I got really excited seeing that one too.

Mods / [Mod Request] Wood Heating
December 20, 2014, 04:48:16 PM
I'm wondering if there would be anyone interested in making a wood heat mod to heat w/o electricity, or the need to rebuild fires every two days. Fire places, wood stove, wood fired boiler, etc... (all would need wood to be hauled to an internal storage of some kind) I've been getting frustrated at losing all of my heating ability during a solar flare and having to build emergency fire pits  and such. I've extended the life span of fire pits to last longer but it feels waaay to cheaty which is why I'm hoping for a mod such as this. Alas my modding ability ends at scrolling through a bit of code and changing a 4 to an 8 to double fire pit lifespan...

This is my first time posting a mod request so if I've done something incorrectly please let me know so I can fix it.

I greatly appreciate any response even if just to let me know that this will be too much of a pain in the posterior to accomplish.

Mods / Re: [Mod idea] steam heating

Would there be a way to rework/reuse the power trader system for the electricity and make a separate "steam trader" system? It would basically require making a whole separate power system/ power type in order to get this to work would it not?
