Question: How should the naming in Historical Weapons be done?
Option 1: Realistic Like: weapons are named what they are in real history, and the discription gives some facts. votes: 21

Description:
This mod adds historic weapons into Rimworld, currently it has two weapon packs, World Wars Weapons, and American Civil War weapons.

Sub Topic:
I'll be adding more weapons packs in the future, also I may change or modify the existing 'packs', (I'm not sure exactly how I want them yet).

This mod adds 8 guns from the American Civil War. The Volcanic Pistol, Remington Pistol, Beaumont-Adams Pistol, Henry Rifle,
Spencer Repeating Rifle, Enfield Musketoon, Springfield Musketoon, and there's even a Gatling gun you can use for defense.
You can also craft the guns at the smithing table.

This mod adds 13 guns and one grenade, 3 guns are SMGs, 5 are Rifles, 3 are LMGs, an Assault Rifle, and a pistol.

looks great, I always like more variety! You might want to see if they could get added into project armory and/or the 'hardcore' modpack. They're a nice balance of detail and the native art style

Maybe, But you can play the game with both the hardcore pack and this mod.

yes, But It may take some time, Summers nearly over and I won't have much time to work on it.

Yup it should work with A12 - the weapon code hasn't changed A11-A12.

The stick grenades do to little damage i think? compared to the frag grenades and such. Also does this work with combat realism? :o

The stick grenades do less damage then the frag grenade because the explosive bit is smaller, but its cheaper and throws farther then the frag.

I haven't played with Combat Realism, so I don't think this mod would work with it...

I've just released a new weapon pack, the American Civil War Weapons, and I've changed this from a mod post to a modpack.

Sure, here's the modified core, it removes all human, handheld guns. (Mechinoids and tribe weapons are still in, along with the improvised turret) To use simply turn off your core, and use weaponless core. Note: you may want to start a new colony to avid glitches.

So I'm working on the Combat Realism version, but I don't know how to convert real values into things like:
         <speed> (How fast a bullet flies, what is one speed equate to in velocity [meters a second, m/s])
                        <range> (How far you can shot, what is one range equate in meters)
         <warmupTicks> (How many ticks equate to a second)

So I'll just use most the default values for the guns from Combat Realism (things like MP40 would have the same values as the Heavy SMG etc.) until I know the information form above.

Note I just got crafting to work, and I found out what was wrong with your code; you forgot to put a <RecipeDef> at the beginning of your code.

Hey, If I may suggest a weapon for the civil war pack, it would be the 12 Pounder Napoleon field gun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_obusier_de_12), you already have the Gatling gun turret, It would be a bit like that. It would not cause a explosion, but deal a one shot to the poor bastard it hits. It would also deal a very large amount of damage to buildings. It was used greatly by the north in the civil war. Just a suggestion.

By any chance would it be possible to add a couple Japanese WW2 weapons?

Mauser C96
Type 38, 30 or 99 (Bolt action rifles)
Type 99 LMG
Type 100 SMG
MP34 SMG

Obviously not expecting ALLLL of these, since I imagine making the graphics for them is time consuming, but felt like you had a bunch of German, US and Russian weapons and no Japanese.

I installed this and it replaces the vanilla weapons. Did I do something wrong? I thought it only adds to the existing weapons.

It adds a lot of new guns, and renames 3 (survival rifle, pistol, and shotgun).

Ok got World War Weapons patched for combat realism done, but I need to finish American Civil war weapons, work on these patches is really time consuming, I must give NoImageAvailable a lot of credit for making their mod, it changes a lot of stuff in the Alpha 13 version. Also the patch might have missing features or something broken, If you find anything please tell me.


Some thing kinda out of topic; When I make my textures for Rimworld they can sometimes look weird, with like white pixels or becoming really fuzzy ingame, while other mods look fine, I know it has something to do with how the image is saved, any fixes?

Rimworld is a bit iffy when it comes to transparency sometimes and it might also be cause your weapons are made on a 128x128 resolution while other weapon mods are made in 64x64 as 128x128 is not exactly that visible in Rimworld as the vanilla weapons are also 64x64.

Firstly, you should be using the Combat Realism - EPOE patch too.

My load order is similar, with the difference that I have installed 60 more mods than you :P And it's working perfectly here.

One more difference... I renamed my CR folder to the "original" name, but t should not change anything, I think...

Have you tried a new save to see if the error persists? And do the weapons work ingame even though the errors appear?

I didn't even realize there was a patch for EPOE :o Thanks for that!

As for this mod, these errors get spat out at me on the main menu, so a new save probably wouldn't help much there. I'm not sure if the guns work or not either, since I've never actually used CR before and don't know how it affects normal gameplay, so I wouldn't be able to tell if the guns are broken or working as normal, unfortunately.

To know if CR is working check these points:
- weapons have ammo, with new button to reload and ammo counter;
- ammo type affects damage, so while a 9mm should not do much to a pawn with a vest a .50 should probably kill or incapacitate him;
- if you have installed the CR compatible Historical Weapons, they too should have ammo system visible when a pawn has a weapon and is selected (buttons visible even when not drafted)

Have you tried reinstalling the weapons pack? And do you open Mods tab in the main menu before starting or loading a game? When you want to play a game you must NOT open the mods tab, as it loads whe mods in a different way to whats your current load order. This may not be the problem if those errors appear when you start the game...

Try to reinstall mod, there should be no problems at all... Maybe some file got corrupted or whatever...

OK I've fixed the issue this is what happened:

Combat Realism got updated, breaking the patch for World War Weapons. That's likely why joaonunes's game works fine (Because they have an older version.) and caekdaemon's game doesn't (They are playing with the newest version on CR, and the patch wasn't update to the latest version of CR yet.) I just fixed the issue with for CR, and the download for CR World War Weapons will now work with the latest CR.

Oh and the Patch for Civil War Weapons IS NOW being worked on, I was very busy for the last two weeks, and had school stuff that need my time.

So I've read through the entire thread and there is continual reference to a CR patch, but I can't find the download link anywhere. Looking in the WW guns files, it seems to be standard vanilla verbs, not CR verbs? Unless I'm misreading things.
Just want to know if I can include this in a new playthrough, as I really like the packs.

Of course with A15 now out, CR is (temporarily) broken, so I don't need them. Haha. ::)
Oh, if you're curious, I just finished giving the Civil War pack a look over (tweaking a few things here and there for personal use) and I did a diff. compare of the relevant stock guns files to see if anything changed that would affect it. Long story short, it loads fine in A15. The WW pack probably does too, but I haven't looked at it yet.
