Im having major issues with naming my colonists the name fields are royally messed up...anyone else having this?
Messed up in the sense that, sometimes, you can only type in a certain amount of letters before the cursor changes place on you?
If so, then yes. I had that problem in A9, but I've yet to experience it in A10.

I've found hallways that are 3 wide and bedrooms which are 5x6 work best when trying to avoid the "cramped Environment" debuff.

The work schedule is great. I'm not going to lie, when I saw the joy system, I thought "Great, now my colonists will be even less productive." However, the way you've implemented it is great, and the work schedule makes managing large(r) colonies way, way easier.
The quality-of-life improvements, what with outfit management and all, help make the game much more relaxing to play. I'm interested to see what kind of black magic Shinzy will have to do to make Apparello compatible with the outfit management system.

Outdated / Re: [MOD] (Alpha 9) Backstories! u1.2

Hey..does this need to be updated for alpha 10?
I think it does; I get an error in the debug window saying "Found no usable data when trying to get Backstories.BackstoryDefs from file NameDefTemplate.xml"
As this did not happen in A9, and the only other mod I've got active is Prepare Carefully (which was previously compatible), I'm guessing its a bug from trying to run an A9 mod in A10.

Any plans to update this for Alpha 6?

This topic might be what you're looking for. While it is not an in-game editor, it seems to have what you're looking for.

Ideas / Re: Game Maintains Trader Name/Type
July 25, 2014, 01:55:52 PM
I only ever see maybe 7 or 8 trade ship names, and I think the game just picks one at random for each ship, as it shows up at your colony. However, I've never seen two ships arriving at the same time with the same name.

It's even more annoying when all the weapons they're selling are pistols/bows.

General Discussion / Re: childhood, backgrounds and being unable to do jobs

Yes, it does suck that some colonists can't do certain things, but that's part of the challenge of RimWorld. You are responsible for making sure that all jobs are done, and sometimes you've got to re-arrange your colonists priorities to account for that.
Alternatively, you can randomize until you get colonists capable of doing everything, use a mod for creating colonists, such as the Colonist Creation Mod (CCM), or only buying slaves that can do everything.
In short, there are methods built into the game to help with combat colonists who are incapable of doing certain tasks.

Is this a Phantasy Star 3 reference??
And I like to have 6 by 5 bedrooms
Jesus
I think 3x5 is excessive, but clearly that's what the damn picky bastards need.
I would be content with 3x4
IIRC, a 5x6 room will give colonists the "Spacious Environment" buff.

General Discussion / Re: Show of hands; Who else is excited for traits being worked on?

I'm curious to see how it turns out. I hope it'll create a nice feeling of diversity among colonists, not just as simple as "Oh, that guy's better at mining by two points," or "He's more social than the rest."

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!

What introduced you to RimWorld?
-A friend of mine on Steam sent me the link to the Greenlight page, I was intrigued, and I ended up watching a few series on YouTube before deciding to buy it.
Or to this style of game in general?
-I've been playing Strategy/City-Building games since I was about 7, starting with the Civilization and Age of Empires series, then moving on into other games like Anno when they came out. Needless to say, I've always been a fan of these kinds of games, and I really like how RimWorld (at least in this stage of development), has no set goals, other than pure survival and building the spaceship.
What's you favorite other game?
-Hands down, Civilization IV (w/ Beyond the Sword). I have great memories of sitting down in the winter and playing some marathon games, and I fondly remember playing the Fall from Heaven mod/modmods with friends.
Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
-Hmm, tough one. It was pretty embarrassing when I fell asleep during my turn on a Fall from Heaven game, kept everyone waiting for almost 20 minutes . And then also general noob stuff that happens in games I consider myself experienced in.
What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Leftovers! More seriously, Cheerios.
