I really enjoyed playing version 8 of this game ... since then its just getting into too much micro-management and I find im barely bothering with the game anymore

I wish there was a way to download a previous version so I could carry on enjoying my game

And yes I know things move forward and lots of you are enjoying the game and thats great ... but for me I just wish there was a way back to a previous version

Well if you owned the game, I'm not sure it would technically be pirating to torrent an older version of it. Certainly I'd have no problem with that. Your license for the game gives you license to all versions until it's released; no reason that doesn't include previous versions as well.

Tynan has stated in the past https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=13041.msg132294#msg132294 that he would be ok with people downloading previous versions of the game if you own a copy of the game.

Once again tho there's no way to really get it without having it open for people who don't own it, unless you put up a download you can take down right away after, and it's put up by someone who owns the previous version (Which people do)

There is, but Tynan system isn't good for this. He would need to create some sort of base where he will save info about who bought the game (account + original game = all versions).

You're all overthinking this. Tynan has stated nothing about stopping piracy, all he said is that if you own the game you can pirate older copies of it if you wish.

There's an alpha 8 seed on every public torrent website, there's nothing preventing you from playing the version you like best.

I have more or less every version released in a folder, they can work beside each oher as long as you are careful with saves

just to upset this thread, I do have all most all non-dev versions even back to the kickstarter, but have font that the current version (or at most the prevoius version (currently a9)) when adding mods to it become a very addictive game, but there were some mechanics in older ersions that would be FUN to have in the current version, eg FEAR conversions, FEAR based defences eg gibblett cages, the game got a bit duller when FEAR left the game
