How do you see weapon stats? I remember seeing them but I can't remember how.

IIRC the only way to see weapon stats is to hover on them in the merchant trade window.

There is an info button on the trader that tells you the weapon details.
Currently there is no way to get weapon details without a trader present.
Only they are smart enough to tell you what you want to know about a weapon. :)

Of course there is the out of game Wiki you can have a look at.
You know it is bedtime when you open a file called GeneralEffecters.xml and the first 2 words you notice are: Butcher and Children.

I think Alpha 4 has an inventory button near the time elapse buttons.  It looks like a pirates chest.  It might be a mod I downloaded, but I thought it was there from the beginning.

Its a inventory panel mod, you cant check the stats in vanilia game other way than trader.
All i do is clutter all around.

Alpha5 will have a stats/info panel you can bring up for any selectable thing.

Sounds awesome!

Ooh, so it will show the weapon stats finally? Without having to wait for traders?

No. It produces a polynomial math problem and after you've solved it, you get to see the stats in a randomly selected language. No numbers. And using spoonerisms.

;D
