Ah, thank for your reply.

I have suspected this so I ran memtest86 for a few hours. Apparently there is nothing wrong with my ram.

Is it possible the error comes from GPU-related?

I did a search for "Radeon RX 5700 XT unity crash"
Looks like other got similar problems with the same video card.

Someone mention to use a special driver

Maybe you take a closer look into that.

Hi. Thanks for the links. I have found an old friend who also bought a 5700 XT recently. It seems the drivers are just wonky beyond belief. Older drives does not seems to fix the crashes. He also had the same Witcher 3 crash problem from one of the threads you linked. It seems there are only certain parts of the Witcher 3 games that will crash you, but lowering shadows to medium fixes it.

I tried playing another Unity based game that is also 2D in nature: Hollow Knight. I have played a couple of hours of it with no crashes. I guess my options are either to wait for better drivers or just to get an Nvidia one. Feels bad, but crap happens.

Just an update:

I removed my 5700 XT and plugged in my old GTX 960. No more CTD but I have BSODs now(I also got BSODs on 5700 XT). I did another full memtest run(4 passes) and have zero errors.

I'm not sure what to think anymore. It's weird that only certain games will give me crashes and BSODs.

You know a PC isn't the same PC like any other.
Same a game don't use the same thing like other games.
Even when a game use Unity, there are different version.

So i think the current Unity engine Rimworld use, rarely use some function of a driver that might lead to a crash with the 5700XT after a while.
Since the 5700XT isn't a cheap one, i wouldn't expect that.
If you got time and passion, try to report it to the AMD support ! :-)

I don't think it's the 5700 XT since my GTX 960 is also crashing.

I also borrowed some ram from a friend. I tested it just now and I still get BSOD.

Changed GPU, changed ram, fresh Windows 10 install, hard-resetted the BIOS by removing CMOS and power cable.. I guess it's the mobo or my CPU. Probably the mobo, right?

Edit: Funny thing is, I tested Rimworld BEFORE installing any drivers on 960. I ran it for 45 minutes with no crash. Once I installed the drivers it started to BSOD. This problem is a real mystery.

Another update: I brought my whole computer to a store to get it tested. I think they hard reset'd the BIOS once and no crash happened.

Now I just got home and I'm getting CTDs again. Is it possible that 144hz monitor and/or displayport is causing me the problems?

Last update:

Finally I have fixed the problem. The solution: Get another mobo.

It seems the mobo was faulty. It is very weird that it will only give me BSOD on 144hz refresh rate, while being perfectly fine on 60hz. That was a problem that was very hard to diagnose.

Thank goodness I can play some Rimworld again!

Canute

That would be the last thing i would have though of.

Look's like with 144Hz the mainboard need to handle much more data then it support, and then it lead to a crash.

Nevermind, I'm getting BSODs and CTDs again. Will go to the tech store soon to, again, check what's wrong.
