New to Rimworld Mods, suggestions?

I'm new to the world of rimworld modding, not terribly new to rimworld though, and wanted to know about any/all the good mods. I'm very into basebuilding and lagging my computer out due to too many colonists/raiders. What are some highly popular mods that I "need to have"?

I suppose that would depend on your specific play style.  Personally I'm more of the "build a colony" type and less "let's get off this rock".

That being said, don't forget to download CCL and A2B.  I may however have a bias in suggesting those.  :D

Mods that will just make your life easier and don't necessarily change the game mechanics:

Fluffy's Tabs, Relations, and Medical Info
koisama's Numbers
CCL might be required by some mods and the CCL Vanilla Tweaks are nice to have.

The EdB series of mods is pretty great: Prepare Carefully lets you start with specifically chosen pawns, pets, & resources.  He's got some good UI stuff too, so there's lots of options on the UI end of things.  I also really like the Hospitality mod (lets you work on relations when factions visit, recruit them if they like you, etc).

I have a tons of mods, but the essential ones (and also "compatible") are these:

- CCL and CCL - Vanilla Tweaks that comes with it;
- EdBModOrder - It will make managing mods a LOT easier;
- Less Incident Trolling - More fixes/tweaks;
- Stonecutting  Tweak - speaks for itself :P
- Balancing Act - More balancing and tweaks;

Quality of life mods:
- Allow Tool - because clicking on all items to unforbid them sucks...
- AutoEquip - makes managing clothing easier;
- Mad Skills - optional... makes skills decay slower, to the start of the current level or not decay at all.
- All of Fluffy's mods - Seriously, get them :D They are super useful;
- Numbers - Same as Fluffy's mods;
- HaulIt - because a hunter can haul an elk he just hunted to the stockpile but refuses to haul food or anything else...
- EdB's Prepare Carefully - You can tweak the starting conditions to fit your style or the site you chose to start the game on;

Difficulty mods:
- Combat Realism - look at the name, enough said.
- Enhanced Prosthetics and Organ Engineering - not really a difficulty changer but you'll kinda need new prosthetics to replace shot off limbs and organs because of Combat Realism :/
- Darkness Revamp - makes the nights darker, under certain conditions (like shitty laptop screens) it will be nearly impossible to see anything at a decent level during the night.

Weapons:
- High Caliber - modern day weapons;
- World Wars Weapons - World wars weapons. This mod's creator also has a mod for civil war weapons;

there are tons of mods... Scroll though the Released thread and you'll probably see many more mods that you'll enjoy.

joaonunes Could you pass me the link of the mods?And also a mod that helps to destroy the 1st piece of the ship, because when it appears, I only have four settlers and at most I have one gun and one rifle that's for nothing, and there comes a point in a few days which is -50 and visitors settlers go crazy, those who are not crazy are killed by madmen. I also wanted an internal defense mod for when infestations also a warning that an infestation this next, with the location of the place.
