Rimworldian animals are tame and smart, they stay on their assigned zones without any opressive fencing
and not including them saved Ty the time from having to code in Animal activist faction

walls just look silly to create a pasture.... now for the barn walls are needed.

Nothing wrong with shameless self promotion...  but it is such a basic need with animals, I am disappointed that they are NOT part of the base game.

why protect the animals from raiders, they are a great distraction, and it is great fun to see tribals pecked to death by chickens. Yes chickens will defend themselves in mass.
