Stormtrout

Thank you for making this game.

HoneyPawn

Hello Everyone !

Firstly want to say how much I LOVE Rimworld!! I am in my early thirties and have been playing strategy and rpgs since I was a kid.  I absolutely love rinworld it's my favorite game and I'm playing it all the time.   To me this game is the perfect mesh of dog and strategy , so entertaining and often ridiculous .  I bought rimworld on a whim and am so happy with it.

NagashUD

Hi there, ok i'll do it short, I'm a pro painter, 37 years old (too old?, nah i love gaming!), i knew Rimworld by steam suggestions when i was on vacations so i watched some videos of let's play, and i don't regret the money i invested in it ! really amazing game, i really like to challenging myself versus the ai ! esp Cassandra that i hate as hell haha ! i like 2000's games in general esp the AD&D Baldur's gate series and Neverwinter Nights; also some 2010's good games (i 'm very picky when i buy a game, i usually expect good quality and good content, f*ck amazing graphics, i want content ! ) so Rimworld as been made for me !
Still alpha but so good, Thanks Tynan for all the effort you put in the game!
Thanks as well to the community, and all the modders !
Have a good one ! love guys !

Slava

Well, firstly, Tynan thank you for creating a great game and a, well, decent community I suppose? Sorry, haven't spent much time here to rate the community yet, don't take this the wrong way.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
I was trying to play DF for a long time but to no avail. I simply couldn't get used to the interface. Then I see a random suggested video on Youtube about this game, it looks like a more accessible version of Dwarf Fortress, just in space. So I pirated it and played it a few times, finally giving up after a depressing but memorable Tribal run. I doubt I will ever have an experience like that again. It was the smack middle of winter, low on food, Pirates attacked my starting tribe of 5 and my female space refugee who was armed with a bolt action rifle. The siege lasted for a while, and the survival instinct was real. Ultimately, we were victorious, but at the cost of half the village. And then, starvation did the rest in. The game sat around on my hard drive for a while now and I have tried the game again just this month and now I'm back into it.

-What's your favorite other game?
The classic Fallouts, New Vegas, Jagged Alliance 2, Morrowind, Baldurs Gate to an extent, Crusader Kings 2, This War of Mine, Planescape Torment, Doom, Civilization, Darkest Dungeon, Mount & Blade and all of its expansions, Bad Rats, you know, the good stuff. Most of them are pirated however, I live in poverty and I can't afford them, the only reason I even own a laptop is because of the money I inherited from my late grandmother, but I'm not here to talk about my sob story of a life.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Every time I play a competitive multiplayer game nowadays is a story of its own, unless I really get lucky.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Reese's Puffs, eat 'em up.

To add onto this, I am just a 21 year old Serbian guy that drinks and smokes too much, and sunflower seeds have become my main way of nutrition. The only thing I'm missing is an Adidas tracksuit and I'd fit the stereotype just right, but I prefer leather. No, I do not eat babies, nor do I attend genocidal operations on daily basis. Contrary to popular belief I do not live in a hut in some tribe, and as far as I am aware I have not chased off or murdered any outsiders as soon as they stepped into our borders although I can't confirm this due to having permanent amnesia every time I drink, but please do mail me as many 7.62x39 ammunition boxes, AKs and accordions as humanly possible, a bear family is trying to break into my house and I think my dog is collaborating with them, don't ask what the accordions are for. While you're at it please inform Comrade Putin that I have burned through my daily supply of Vodka and I might need seconds.

I am a minor fan of Anime or "Manime" as they call them such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Berserk, Fist of the North Star, Cory in the House, Shrek, Airplane Instruction Manuals from the 80's, and Boku No Pico. I especially recommend the last one, only true men can endure it.

Shitposting and jokes aside, I aspire to direct and write two cartoons in my lifetime, a children's one, and an adult one. The chances of that are pretty much a zero, due to my endless lack of funds, aaaaaand due to the fact my country still thinks anime is just for kids, let alone cartoons.

As for who I am, well again, I'm just a guy. I have my likes and dislikes, I have my hobbies, so, basically just like everyone else, though I prefer not to talk about them due to possibly instigating an argument. I speak fluent Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Semi-Fluent English although that is due to my accent getting in the way, I know some Macedonian and Bulgarian, currently I only know how to curse in Russian, and I used to speak German pretty freaking fluently but that just... Disappeared from my brain, I guess I really wasn't into it.

I don't know if I'm an Autist or a Psychopath, I don't have the money to get either confirmed or not, but I know I am not Insane because I question my sanity about 10 times a day and I am pretty sure actually Insane people lack the self awareness in that regard.

Now that I have successfully ensured that about 99% of you will avoid me like the plague and the remaining 1% is going to send hitmen after me, I can conclude this post.

P.S: The part about the bears wasn't a joke, send help.

Daniell

I was introduced by Rimworld by someone who said it was "like Dwarf Fortress in space". Turns out I like it just as much as Dwarf Fortress, despite the lack of vertical space and babyshields.

Dwarf Fortress is probably my favorite other game. Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is pretty awesome, too, though. And ADoM. Roguelikes in general are a love of mine.

Embarrassing gaming-related story? Well... there would be the time I flooded my Dwarf Fortress fort because I turned on the water flow to the well while some dorf was sleeping in the last gap in the cistern wall. But I'm not sure whether that's embarrassing for me or the dwarves.

Breakfast is for morning people. Give me coffee and stay out of my way.

By the way, Slava: Difference between an autistic and a psychopath is this: Psychopaths can understand social subtext and use it just as easily as any other person; they just don't care about other people's welfare. Autistics really suck and understanding and using social subtext, but once they know about what other people are thinking and feeling, they care as much as anybody does. If you have a conscience (and it's not a simulation), you're not a psychopath; if you have normal social skills (and didn't have to work your butt off to learn them), you're not autistic.

I'm autistic, by the way. It mostly means I'm socially oblivious, detail-oriented, and get absolutely fascinated with one thing at a time. I started playing Rimworld a little under three weeks ago, and Steam says I have 272 hours in it. That's autism for ya. Oh, and the "socially oblivious" thing--if I do or say something that's annoying and I'm clueless about it, please clue me in before I drive you nuts... thanks!
Yes, I'm weird. No, you don't get to complain about it.

That's the thing, I can identify traits, or "symptoms" from both cases. But I don't want to derail the thread in order to talk about myself of all things, I hate making myself look like an attention whore. If you do want to talk about this, or talk about anything at all, just message me or something, making friends is a pretty good thing I think. Though it might take about 5 days for me to respond, I'll lose internet in about maybe 10 minutes until the first of November.

Lykia

#741
I've been in this forum for a while well it's my time to introduce myself I guess.
As you can see my nickname is Lykia bit you can call me "Hakan" doesn't matter for me and I m a student :P . I started to play games since my childhood with ps2 and growed up with strategy games as stronghold crusader and company of heroes then I started to play fps games.

--what introduce you to rimworld?--
Basically I was on steam and checking recommended games than I saw rimworld, checked the game and watched gameplay a about it than I downloaded it :P .

--what's your other favorite games?--
Stronghold Crusader! I m playing this game since my childhood so it has special place for me.
Company of Heroes series,Child of Light,Battlefield series, medal of honour, this war of mine, last of us, nfs most wanted( old one not remastered), dead space series (3 was not my favorite), resident dil series (Tbh 5 was ok but 6? Meh it had too much actions but 7 is fine gonna try it out with VR), Tekken 6 ,Civ V

--Most embarrassing moment while playing?--
I was playing tekken 6 online and beaten down with 1 combo from character that I thought weak :|.

--What kind of breakfast cereal you like?--
Not a huge fan cereals,I prefer normal breakfast.

Well that's all I got to say I guess cya in other discussion  :)

Karnayna

#742
Hey guys,

I go by Karnayna in most games I play, Karn is fine though.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Well, RimWorld is probably my first for a start, I saw some youtube videos and streams from Aavak, Yeti and Quill18 and decided to give it a try. 700+ hours later...

-What's your favorite other game?
World of Warcraft, if you get the reference i'm a Wrath baby. Server: Alonsus-EU -  Class: Holy Paladin,

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Well I used to raid on Warcraft and living in Scotland it's quite cold, that has earned me the nickname cold-hands for complaining about having cold hands while raiding. Not so much embarrassing but I couldn't think of something embarrassing.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Coco-Pops. (My inner child just can't help itself)

Also, I can't seem to start new topics, can't see anything about restrictions and I have a bug report to post.

Can someone help?

Edit: Nevermind, seems i needed to post in a discussion first before starting a topic. YOu should perhaps put this in the forum rules Tynan ;)

Bolty

Hello everyone, I'm Bolty (real name Scott) from the UK. I'm a fan of RimWorld and I am also a huge weather geek.

- What introduced you to RimWorld?
YouTube. I literally just randomly clicked on someone's video of RimWorld. After watching a few videos I was really quite hooked into the game and wanted to give it a try.

- What's your favourite other game?
GTA and The Sims.

- Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
In high school I was completely oblivious to Call of Duty. Knowing my look I had to be asked about it literally right in front of my whole class, and when I didn't know anything about it, my popularity quickly hit rock bottom, haha. Even today mind you, I still don't really know much about it. It's never a game I got hooked into.

- What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
It would have to be Rice Krispies for me.

Gary Bastard

Hello everyone!
i'm Gary the Bastard-->What a poetic name you said...Well, it's not my fault if it's my nickname(long history...)
I began to play RimWorld on a crack version to test, i felll in love, so i bought it.
I go to this forum to learn and resolve my problems about modding.

Have a nice  day everyone.

ertxyz

Hello everyone!

I realized I've been lurking on this forum for a while and never bothered to introduce myself, so here it goes:
I'm Eduardo from Spain, CG artist and animator, and lifelong player.

Quote-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Youtube. I saw one of the trailers and inmediately attracted me to the game. I did played a bit with a pirated copy (I'm always suspicious of alphas), and a couple of days later bought it.

Quote-What's your favorite other game?

Hard to choose. I'm a big fan of visual narrative and storytelling, so a good single player, story heavy game wins my heart. For that part, I'm in love of Naughty Dog's work.

But of course, there is "The Secret of Monkey Island". And you can't compete with "The Secret of Monkey Island"!!

Quote-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

A big bowl of corn flakes, after you take the bowl, throw the corn flakes away, and have a coffee and a croissant instead.

Corn von Holio

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Saw the game a couple of years ago, decided to see if it went anywhere. Recently I coaxed myself into buying it. It was a good buy. Almost as good as premium toilet paper.

-What's your favorite other game?
Dunno. I binge games, currently binging Rimworld and Dirty Bomb. Both games lack TP in their base forms, but I make do.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Played "Spooky's house of Horrors" or something like that with a friend. A wild coffe cup appears! Corn used Screech! Later that day, Corn ran out of PP for Screech, so he switched to "Scream like a girl".

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
TP + Milk quenches my thirst.
I am not corrupt, just willing to consider other solutions given adequate amounts of TP.

Revage

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

I have a friend that told me about his party and their traits in this game. That, and the ability to replace a person's limbs and senses with robotic upgrades, throw them in some brotherhood-of-steel-esq power armor, give them a mini-gun, and cryo them until needed like some crazy Kurt Russel 'Soldier' shit pretty much sold me.

-What's your favorite other game?

Fallout, forever and always. Even tactics, I miss being able to park a humvee on a super mutant and have my people bash him with sticks. Also, Kenshi for the open-world base building and diversity of experience and options. And by diversity of options, I mean going rogue.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

I played Neverwinter Nights in the RP section as a player and a DM over a decade, so.. this one could get long, drawn out, and awkward.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

I can't eat breakfast, I get sick every time. Except at the galley when I was in the Navy, but I think that got a pass because it wasn't really food.

Outside of all of that, my name's Drew, I'm an employment specialist and benefits planner for a local mental health association. I'm also on the city council in my home town, a modest 16,000 people strong. I was a personnel specialist in the Navy and I love games that let me vent and create. Rimworld is good for both. I enjoy a long game, so I have been looking forward to vehicles and more mobility in my bases to move throughout the world.

marten

-What introduced me to RimWorld?
A YouTube video of Isorrowproductions. I saw Rimworld and it was love on the first sight.

-What's your favorite other game?
It has to be ck2. Love the story and strategy parts.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
I was first in some sort of military school thing. Where most people where healthy and stuff. I saw myself as a real game pro/nerd compered to my most of my classmates. then I went to colleges to study IT. I saw my new classmates my little gamers ego broke and I became the noob.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
One with coffee.

Dr.Dave

Hi there, my name is Dave, I enjoy this game so much I've decided to seek to be an active member in the society/fanbase.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Through some people I follow on Twitter (CGP Gray, and The Ranting Monkey)

-What's your favorite other game?
Hearts of iron franchise, but mostly the third game.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
none that I'm ready to share.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Honey frosted mini wheats.
