True .. its a red one .. or similiar enough .. skullywag posted something about that it may be possible that he got eventually the time to work on getting the mod to a17 ..

We could ask aFriend for a Multicolored Version.

I do plan on having breeding be a thing....but im not sure why yet....its not like we can ride em...eh who knows, ill see where it takes me, still wrestling with ranged attacks on animals right now.

It would be awesome if that was a thing :)

Out of curiositiy, where is the main problem with the ranged attacks ?
Is it a problem with the verb in general or that animals can't carry equipment and could use weapons that disappear like mechanoids and others ?

Nah its the thinktree stuff and manhunter, It doesnt work the way it used to before A13. I actually think the 2 manhunter sections in the subtree_misc file (the ones labelled HACK) are not even used by the game anymore, Ive been speaking to Zorba about it, gonna have to approach this in another way, the old way does not work anymore.

Sounds like manhunter is similiar to berserk pawns which prevents the use of weapons ?

yeah its like a hard coded job or something, doesnt touch think trees so no way using that method to mod the behaviour. Approaching it from scratch right now as if I never had a working solution, think i was blinkering myself into making it work how it used to which doesnt seem feasible anymore. Anyway this is a bit offtopic, continue discussing big multi coloured birds.

Sorry, I love solving such problems, and I am quite good at testing and debugging.
My own problem is, that I can't wrap my mind arround programming any more.
And I had a wonderful vision about a Boomacritter from Discworld .. Swamp Dragons.
Omnivours with some interesting digestion problems and the ability to breath fire.

But if you insist : WARK !

Having big multicolored egglayers in the game which could act as caravan animals as first stage sounds not so complicated at all.
Breeding puzzles me in so far, as the different colored birds have to be able to breed with each other ( meaning being one type of animal with different looks for the game )
but having the color of the offspring pre-determined by the color of the parents.

This would depend on the egg/content knowing its parents, like mammals.
I haven't bred egg layers for a while ingame, so I don't know this from the top of my head.
Also I don't know if this information gets overwritten when the egg-stacking happens.
