I requested my Mac desktop to download RimWorld, and all it says is:

Unable to expand "RimWorld1-2-2905Mac.tar" into "Downloads" (Error 1- Operation not permitted.)

Why can't I get the Mac to expand the files? It seems no matter the application the computer refuses.

Hi,
i have no expierence with mac and not many active mac user here.
Try to google for "mac Unable to expand" for some help.

Or maybe try to move "RimWorld1-2-2905Mac.tar" out of Downloadds before you try to unzip/expand it or use an archive tool.

I am also experiencing this problem, with a slightly newer version of RimWorld (1-2-3009).

I tried expanding the file on the command line. I was able to run gunzip correctly, but tar can't extract it.
Here's the error output:

Not a mac user, but dug around a bit. It seems that the filename encoding in the drm-free mac releases is borked. The previous releases were .zip, now they are tar.gz. Zips work fine, but the tar archives break.

zip: RimWorld1-1-2567Mac/RimWorldMac.app/Data/Core/Languages/SpanishLatin (Español(Latinoamérica)).tar
tar: RimWorld1-2-3009Mac/RimWorldMac.app/Data/Core/Languages/SpanishLatin (Espaol(Latinoamrica)).tar

I tarred and untarred the 1-1-2567 Mac release on Linux, and the foreign characters were preserved correctly.
I'm thinking this is a Windows vs. Unix filename encoding issue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojibake

Does the game run? These are just language files, so unless you need one of the broken languages, the game should run fine.
