With the current state of Alpha Testing/ Early Access will we see a price drop?

I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

Bought the game yesterday after a long struggle with myself about the price. What conviced me at the end: the development progress. Since the first Alpha release there have been so many new things implemented and I think this game has a really great potential in the future. Played it for 6 hours and didn't regret the buy. :)

As the man said: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

If 30$ is too high and you're unsure then check out some Let's Plays (as has been mentioned now I see) and if it's still too high then wait for it to be released.

It's not so much "paying for the privilege to be a tester" as is so often thrown about. It is a funding method to support development whilst getting the functional (but not yet fully complete) game to interested parties willing to deal with the state of the game and support the development of the game.

I appreciate the insight of the Dev. I was horribly burned by the likes of Castle Story , Spacebase , and Starforge. But wonderfully surprised by many others. I have seen many Early Access model game go up in flames and appreciate the reassurance that the game is nearly feature complete on a playable scale. I just did  not want a situation where i buy the game and 5 minutes into it realize its nearly unplayable like I did with the previously mentioned titles.

If your still not sure on buying rimworld, Just watch a youtube lets play by "blitzkriegsler"
He has I think 8 of them almost all have 30+ episodes and at least 20-30 minutes long

And if that doesn't make you want to buy Rimworld then just look at the community here, I found rimworld off of Blitzkriegsler but I bought it because of the people on this forum
The guy who suggested the mood debuff for harvesting prisoner organs.

I'm of the opinion I've already gotten all of my** money's worth, given that Tynan set out to create a system in which stories are generated, and by golly, I've generated stories with it. And read about stories generated with it.

Could it be more 'feature complete'? Sure. Does it achieve its stated goal? Most definitely. And I think that's the most important thing.

**Admission: A friend of mine purchased this for me as a gift, so 'my' money is his money, but he's gotten HIS money out of it out of what I've experienced, so I think my point stands.

I think at this point the game delivers on every aspect for $30. There are games out there for more that have less content. I'm on the boat with the people who say "ive gotten my moneys worth". to think that only more will be added in the future is VERY exciting, its like getting new DLC content once a month, FOR FREE!

ya there may be a few bugs here and there but in the grand scheme of things the game is VERY playable and VERY entertaining.

Kerbal Space Program is another Early Access title that does it right.  They started at a lower price and slowly work upwards as content gets added.  But it frequently goes on sale as well.  Both games however have already passed my $$$ to Fun threshold so they were both good buys.  Also since rimworld has a smaller community its easier to exchange ideas with everyone and have them listened too.  The price is fine as is, I talked friends into getting it as well.

As for the games status, I see it continuing as it is for a little while yet until all the core gameplay elements are in and fleshed out.  After that its Beta for bug hunting, tweaking, balancing, and such.  Then released as finished.  But also continuing to get updates as time goes on.
