I'm trying to get something else to produce milk, I got it to the point where the object makes milk but I can't actually milk it. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

My wild guest is that may came from undefined value in workgiver.xml.

If you can provide more details like piece of code or a more detailed description of what works well and what not we may be able to help more

Sorry for the late reply here. What I have done is make human likes milkable and copied in a cows milk production stuff. In game it does show milk fullness but you can't milk the pawn.

...but you can't milk the pawn.
:o ;D ;D HAHAHAHAHA!
Oh man, that sounded funny. :D

Seeing how split pawns and animals are, code-wise, I wonder if it's possible at all. Some magic wumbo jumbo might be stopping it from working. I'm not sure though.

You need to add a worker. Check for thr one that handles cows...i think you add humanlikr inplace of cow in the xml for that to work. Check the surgertly recipes they work in a similar way. Any of the surgery mods will be adding those..im sure its humanlike though.
Skullywag modded to death.
