I was wondering if anyone knows of a mod that changes the material Pawns use to refuel torches etc.  At the moment my pawns refuel torches, fires etc with Wood as opposed to charcoal which I have an abundance of.  If this mod doesnt exist, can it be created?

I don't recall charcoal being in the base game. So you would be best asking the developer of whatever mod added charcoal.

And btw. yes charcoal burns but don't emitte much light like a wood fire.

If you want a nice refuelable light source, try out
Industrial Age

A metal or stone ceiling mount for wax candles to light an area. Can be automatically refueled with wax made from animal fats at a cooking station. Produces a very small amount of heat.

It is indeed part of the medieval mod... was wondering if its even possible to modify its priority to be used to refuel.  Playing a modded playthrough where industrial era is not a thing.

Hardcore-SK modpack got this feature, you could select what kind of resources you could refuel if you got multiple fuel sources.
But i don't know any mod that add these feature.

But you can't priority it , even when you put a stack of charcoal next to the torch, the pawn will take fuel from his closest postion.

The only way would be the hard way edit the XML.
At your medivial mod search for torch, and if you see the list of refuel items delete the wood line.

Right now I forbid stacks of wood but that has its inconveniences as well Im sure you could imagine.  Im trying to avoid removing wood as a fuel source entirely, just lower its priority on the list.  The conversion is 25 wood for 75 charcoal, and the charcoal is one to one for refueling, so it makes it a reasonable refuel source considering wood can be finite depending on the region you're in and tree regrowth rate etc.
