Game running really slow

I need suggestions.  My game is running really slow.  Even on #3 speed.  It's even worse than playing on the slowest speed.  I don't know if it's something wrong with the game, the biome, or my computer.  I am running 1.0 through Steam.  My computer is Windows 10, it recently downloaded and installed some patches but I don't know which ones.   I've searched a bit online, but not finding any info.  Even the temperate biome seems a bit slow, but it might just be my perception.

I can't say whether the patches are the culprit.  The game was running fine until I tried a colony in the tropical swamp biome.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to check?

Nameless

Figure out what you installed first.

At first Rimworld isn't very optimized to run on multicore system.
So you system wouldn't matter much.
Unless you got generell problem with your PC and other games there is nothing wrong.

Rimworld will auto. run slower on bigger colonies, larger maps with many colonist and wild/tame animals.
But there isn't anything you can do against it.

Another reason are error's mosttimes happen when you use mods.
When you open the errow window (need to enable developer mode first maybe) and repeating red line pop up, it is a bad sign.
If you don't use steam, you should check for mod updates first.

Check your animation settings.  Jungles have lots of swaying trees which might be slowing down your system.  Does the game speed up if you zoom in on a relatively empty patch of map?
If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

What are your computer specs?

Processor and your graphic card?

We aren't so sure if your game could ran it unless your heavily using mods but if it's computer you have clean some space or upgrade it's video card and some hardware stuff...

One "happy family" in the rims...
