Although I do like the new health system very much because of reasons already mentioned in many other threads, I just got two absolutly ridiculous old wounded starting colonists.

I plan to name this colony "Hohle-in-toe".

Well, there's absolutely nothing to say that the occupants of that ship were in prime condition, considering their backgrounds.

Although, being wounded in the toes is a little strange. I did get a colonist (In my video) start with a stab scar on their ring finger.

I imagine a scene where one of my colonists sits in a bar talking to some veterans:

Veteran 1: "You see this? (knocks on his knee, it's made of wood) I walked on a landmine in Afghanistan, I'm also blind on my right eye."

Veteran 2: "I still have two bullets inside my back and I can't really use my right arm. What's your storry, pal?"

Colonist: "... I ... was shot into my right middle toe ... it hurt pretty much."

I've known more than one person with long-term injuries to either their toes or fingers.

One guy I know from NZ broke his hand in a skateboard accident, and caught it on video.

It's here on youtube if you're interested in watching it.

If he holds his hands out evenly the fingers on his hand that got busted still don't quite line up right.

I know someone else who had the tendons in their two last fingers on one of their hands severed, so they can't move those two fingers.

So yeah, long term toe injuries might not be as noteworthy as having lost an eye or something, but it still has an effect.

But a gunshot wound to the little toe? You either have to be very close, very accurate or very lucky.

Everyone is complaining about the unfairness of the system and here you want the colonists to start with more serious wounds? I like that mindset :D

Really, though, getting shot in the finger isn't as rare as it might look like (both in Rimworld and in reality), especially if you are unlucky and get struck by a glancing bullet.

Lost Cause

Clearly those two colonists got out of military duty by shooting themselves in the foot! :p
It doesn't matter how many arms a colonist has as long as one of them is a Minigun!

Seems he liked playing Five Finger Fillet.

I had a starting colonist with a scarred ring finger as well, and think I've seen pirates start with it too. Sounds like we're going to need glove items.

I think Ive seen your colonists on TV

I'm envisioning the two colonists in the ship as it's breaking apart above the planet.  One of the two has his gun in his hand and is checking it...an explosion on the starboard side causes the ship to list violently to port.  As he stumbles, he runs into the other colonist.  BAM!  His gun goes off.

"Owww!  Owww!  #(@*#!  You shot my pinky toe!"

Wounded colonist pulls his gun, looks the first colonist in the eye, and fires a round into his foot.

Going to be a long first month.  These two don't want to speak about it or to each other...

I think in The Quick And The Dead (Billy) the Kid said something along the lines of "i took out the firing guard on this gun so it would shoot faster, but don't wear it when you're drunk, or you'll shoot your toes off!"

I guess that's what happened.  :)
On the right path, but the wrong medication.

I like how there's a thing that displays how long you've logged in to the forums. It shows just how many hours you've spent here, never to get back...

Just to add some boring technical details, the reason everyone is missing fingers and toes is that the starting old wound generation algorithm in A6 just chooses body parts at random. And there are lots of tiny fingers and toes.

In A7 the choice will be weighted by coverage, so you'll see more natural spread of pre-existing old wounds over the body.
