I was hunting a thrumbo because my colony was desperate for food and i shot it multiple times and it did not attack us????

And you await that they revenge on the first hit ?

The revenge is based on the distance you are shooting and the animal handle skill.
A pawn with a high skill can hunt a thrumbo without revenge.

But when the pawn got a very low skill at animal, and it didn't revenge it is untypical but still not impossible. Maybe just many lucky rolls.
Or if you use mods, maybe a mod change something.

Was it going home?

After a while, it will and try to exit the map...

But if you try attacking it while it's trying to leave. It will become a Manhunter, but will never attack you back and will continue to leave the map...

It's an oversight and a bug that you can exploit that you can try to kill them for their horns and meat and their fur with them not trying to retaliate back... Before it get's patched out... I got Three horns and thrumbo fur from all three of them...

It also happens in vanilla outside of modded as well....

One "happy family" in the rims...
