Ideas / Center base button for world map
March 27, 2019, 01:11:02 AM
The title pretty much says it all. I know that your bases are a light blue compared to everyone elses, but there are times when im looking around that I wish I could just press a hotkey to center my colony on the world map.

Off-Topic / PC Gamers review of Rimworld
January 09, 2019, 07:25:04 PM
I dont want to link to the article directly as it's an ad riddled page but it seems like these people think Ty are responsible for his player base giving personalized character background based on their own life. In this case l, the author went after the trans characters. Its moments like this that reinforce why lagacy media and traditional game journalism is going the way of the dodo.

Ideas / Exterior Lights
December 13, 2017, 07:41:57 PM
I'm having a hard time believing that no one suggested this before but I tried searching using multiple terms in the search bar but each time it came up flat.

Its a rather strait forward idea but if at all possible, can we have light sources modeled for exterior use? A standing lamp looks out of place when its outside and I build villages rather than mountain lairs. Having a light source that looks like it connects to walls or even just light posts would be fine. I just want an option that I dont have a build a roof over.

PS

Im making a suggesting. Please dont flame me with mod links to something that resembles this. I understand that there may be a mod out there but I think this has its place in vanilla.

Off-Topic / Thoughts on ANTIFA
July 10, 2017, 10:08:23 PM
There appears to be a rising "Anti fascist" movement that dresses in black and attacks people and places of business. Most recently I heard of their antics at the G20 summit. Ive also noticed these people are mostly middle class late teens/early twenties and/or liberal college professors. Im kind of curious what others thoughts are of this group of people.

Please follow the standard forum rules and if you can elaborate on your thoughts, it would be appreciated.

General Discussion / Halo inspired event/gamemode
April 14, 2017, 05:17:37 PM
Okay ill first say im not sure if this should go in the suggestion section or not but atm i kind of just want to discuss and bang out details on how this could actually work. That said, let me try to coherently elaborate.

Im sure many of you guys and gals know if the Halo series as well as some of the protagonists. I want to specifically talk about the flood and how their mechanics might be a cool change of pace in rimworld (obviously this in my opinion) Anywho, I was attackrd by a massive tribal force and it vaguely reminded me of the feral stage of the flood. Huge numbers and super aggressive but lack cohesion. Once that idea entered my head, I couldnt help but think how cool it would be if their was an entity that behaved like the flood with the different stages of evolution as well. Obviously, this is just a husk of an idea and im sure there is flaws/issues with my idea but im curious if anyone else is at least interested in an enemy like this and how they might function.

ps I typed this on my phone so sorry for any typos or weird wordings.

Off-Topic / The Music thread

As a little habit of mine, I start a "music thread" in which users can post random songs both old and new from any genre. Instrumentals or vocals.

Ideas / New options for production control
August 31, 2016, 09:56:37 PM
I have 2 suggestions for production in terms of control of number of items.

First would be a sort of a min/max option.

To give an example of what I mean. I want a maximum of 20 fine meals made but I dont want my colonist producing anymore until a minimum of 5 is reached.

The second is being about to say X amount within the searchable radius of the production table.

I think this would be a more refined version of "have X amount" as it allows you to have control over a single production bench alone rather than it being regulated by forces outside of your control. Example, I want 5 of <insert item here> produced by bench. Raiders drop 3 of the "item" I am requesting. However, they have bad durability and/or poor quality. I want to sell them for silver but if I bring that to my stock pile, than my personal production of said item stops.

Feedback is more than welcome

Off-Topic / How do you pronounce Tynan?
August 29, 2016, 04:50:21 PM
I know this is a really weird question but all too often I think I know how to pronounce something (elder scrolls morrowind made this flaw of mine very apparent) but in reality, I was off the mark. So does anyone know how to actually pronounce his whole name? And does anyone else suffer from this debilitating illness?

Sucks, lasts too long and serves no purpose beyond making you want to revert to a previous save. /rant

Ideas / Restrictive doors
April 18, 2015, 12:47:17 AM
I am curious as to if tiered access doors could be implemented.

level 1 being access for everyone including visitors.
level 2 open access for colonist but restricted to visitors
level 3 Restriction to only white-listed colonist. People can be added to the whitelist much in the same way colonist can be assigned to a specific bed.

Thoughts?

Ideas / Research buff/debuff
April 07, 2015, 12:52:03 PM
I looked through the first 2 pages of search option and didn't see a post similar. As it stands. After you finish the tech tree, a researcher is completely useless (putting aside other traits they may have) My idea would somewhat keep research somewhat viable even after you are finished with the tech tree at its current state or even after it's possibly expanded. It would be in the form of mood buffs. Following the motto "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) Either based on the colonist level of research or potentially his/her character traits. You can have a positive or negative thought. Colony and/or to the individual. To give some examples, The researcher can become annoyed with how little progress they are making towards a "new idea" which would put a debuff on that colonist. Another example would be, a "break through" in plotting a faster way home through space which gives a positive buff colony wide. Something that may include the researchers traits would be if a psychopath makes a "immoral" break though. Which will place a negative debuff on colonist that arent keen on that "immoral" idea.

I just thought it this idea practically on the spot so please forgive the possible impracticality. Just figured i'd share.
