Mods / The BIG Bang modpack being updated and release info

YES! Its true! After dozens of angry Rimworld fans have emailed me expressing their concerns over the fact my mod pack went dead and seeing loads of comments all over the forum with people moaning that other mod packs were not the BIG BANG I have decided to get back in the game....

INTRO

Hey everyone just a quick(ish) post to see if your interested in becoming a tester for Unknown World, which will include you telling us what you think Unknown World is missing. We are looking for people who will take this VERY seriously and are PRETTY active on the forum. In return you will get EARLY ACCESS to Unknown World to test for bugs and to make sure its fun. You will recieve a copy as soon as we send you a personal message saying your in and continue to get future versions up till the release of Unknown World which we believe is some way off yet...

We cannot stress enough that are testers be as passionate about Rimworld and Unknown World as much as we are and would be willing to add the Unknown World banner to their forum signature, and you would also have to respect our want for a secrecy on Unknown World (we do not mind testers talking about it with people, but we DO mind the suprise being ruined by testers revealing to much about Unknown World)

If you think your right for this role, and your EXTREMELY good at keeping secrets, then feel free to leave a quick reply maybe even with the reasons why we should choose you. You do not need any kind of testing experience!

as far as im aware its against the Ludeon rules to give our mod away without permission, so if you have a test version and share it with people that do not have permission, or make it public in any form, then we will do our upmost to ensure its removed and the correct action is taken against the person responsible, this also includes un authorized you tube videos.

Call me crazy but I had a random idea pop in my head.... What if we all play a little game: Someone start by making a mod that consists of something small, that person then sends the mod to another person who adds something small... we keep going like that until there is no-one left to add something and we see what comes out?? MAY BE FUN??

HOW ITS GOING TO WORK :)

-post your name in this post if you want to join in
-Ill send you the mod when its your turn, you add your mark, something small and return the file to me (so I can make sure it doesn't go missing)
-I'll then send it to the next person, Please only send the mod back to me privately (inbox me the DL link) so we can keep the surprise going

THE RULES

-you must not reveal your part of the mod to anyone (I know the next modder will see what you did, but please keep it a secret as much as possible)
-you cannot edit someone else part of the mod.
-you may make your part of the mod work off of someone else's part (so if some one added iron for example the next person may see this and add a new sword and refined iron ect)
-try not to spend too long on your part, keep it nice and simple as alot of people will be adding to it
-YOU MUST NOT RETURN THE MOD WITH ERRORS

GREAT amount of responses so far, a few new names to the moding seen too :D BUT i'm sure there are more people out there, you need no experience you can just check out the wiki tutorial page http://rimworldwiki.com/Modding_Tutorials and learn to make something small to join in. :D

Just wondering if someone can tell me a little about this? I basically want to edit/change the music in Rimworld so that it will fit in with our full conversion better, I just need to find out what format Unity needs the music to be in as its defo not mp3 lol :) thanks for saving me loads of time ;)

I'm having the hardest time with a sand pit... I have it working but not how i want, at the moment my people can create 10 bags of sand but it cost 1 metal and about 20-30 seconds, and you can place the sandpit anywhere.

I would like it so it can only be built on sand and so that it does not require anything to make except the time it take them to dig if you get me, I've been playing around with this loads, tried the whole restriction like with a geothermal on a steam geyser ect but im all out of ideas

SOMEONE PLEASE GET BACK TO ME ASAP WHILST MY INSPIRATION IS RUNNING WILD :D

Help / Adding new Architect tabs [solved]

I asked Ty for some help today in how to add new tabs to the architect menu as i couldnt find the answer and he helped me out so here it is incase anyone else as wondering

-It's easy in A4, impossible in A3. If you're modding towards A4 just use the test version and add a DesignationCategoryDef.

MOD BEING MADE BY ZELLDOT AND JAMIEG (who are now storytellers in UW)

PLEASE READ:We plan to bring you a whole new experience with our full conversion mod Unknown World, This mod completely changes Rimworld from the basic textures down to the items you can create, we see no end in sight for this mod and the possibility's are endless! ALSO we are happy for people to create mods for Unknown World :)

I know... your thinking, So when can we play this? and we plan to release this mod ASAP (It will be ready when its ready) but we still have a lot of work to do until we can provide the experience that we want to provide.

How the Tech Tree works:

The Technology in this mod will work very differently to original Rimworld in the sense that you have to build up to things like electricity and high powered machines and start in the stone age and work your way through the research advancing to the metal stage then on to the industrial stage, after that its on to the modern age before landing in the space age. We plan to have a research TREE that opens up and SPREADS out as you progress through the game rather than the list of research projects available in Rimworld atm (in the sense that you start with alot to choose from where as in Unknown World you only have a few research projects available when you start and depending what you choose will open up new ones)

FUTURE PLAN IDEAS:

-A wide variety of weapons and workbenches!!
-Whilst in the earlier stages, we will use things like catapults as turrets until better research has been completed.

PLEASE POST ONLY IF YOUR A MOD CREATOR OR CURRENTLY MAKING A MOD (or even if you want to make a mod after reading this) :D

The mod pack team needs more mods!! we are currently looking for mods that add new buildings, structures, floors, ect....BASICALLY everything that is not in the item tab, so we can make the BIG Bang even BIGGER!

EVEN if you HAVEN'T made a mod before DONT WORRY its easy to find out how and EVERYONE from the forum are really great with HELPING people out!! so no need to worry about being a noob :D just check out the wiki or forums!

The reason we do not need any more items is because there is no scroll bar incorporated into the architect tabs so the more you add the more your screen fills up and we are currently at max capacity for people playing on laptops or small screens, if we get a few mods that add items maybe i can put together a BIGGER modpack for people with big screens?

sooo hopefully if your reading this your thinking: i could make a mod for this pack or hey! my mods perfect for this guy, why isnt he using it yet, in which case leave a message for me with a link or your plans!!

This is my first release of this mod, I plan to add much more to this and focus more on the tuning of recipes. but for now I wanted to see what you guys thought, and also if anyone can take my drawings and make them better :p as I suck lol but I have seen alot of people talking about adding recipes a little more interesting than taters and simple meals so maybe you will like this!! PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK :D

-5 new meals to make using different recipes.

is anyone making or know of someone making a mod that incorporates real meals?? if not ill start adding it to my more growables mod :D i was thinking a new kitchen workbench that instead of making simple meals, lavish meals ect made things like squirrel stew, spaghetti boomanaise, muffalo steak and chips(french fries) ect drop me some ideas in the comments :D

so recently i created a mod pack which is 15 different mods in 1 (basically) it adds over 85 new things to rimworld alpha 2..... for alpha 3 i want to do so much more! im asking for any modders to drop me a message if they dont mind me using there mod in the alpha 3 pack. (i have alot of permissions now already but would really like to take as many mods into consideration as possible)

i will make sure with the new pack that i credit every mod creator that helped make the pack possible ;)

not much thought so far but is it possible maybe if when you crash land in the bottom of the screen as an example your friends could possibly crash land at the top and you can either co-exist or fight it out i mean would this not take this game to the next level?

not saying i can but maybe someone reads this and BOOM on comes a lightbulb and a little while after that me and the gang can raid each other stupid :D

I've been playing around with using lots of mods at once,(what is it with these modders making tables :p)
and everyone knows there are issues with having too many new items added and not being able to access some items :( so after lots of restarting new colony's, I've compiled the 15 best mods I think work well together adding loads of really great items to the game and a massive research tree BUT without taking away the challenge and fun. And just so you know I take no credit for the creation of these mods I simply compiled it into one download instead of 15

PS: I think this is the first mod-pack too and I'm happy to do it for the alpha 3 mods if thats what you guys want. as soon as I get access to it *cough ;)

THIS MOD PACK ADDS AROUND 85 NEW THINGS TO RIMWORLD such as research, items, building, defence, more grow-ables, more craft-ables, more trade-ables and even a new narrator for more population growth!!

Hi to anyone reading this i'm having a look into making a mod involving some vehicles being added to RIMWORLD! this will be my 1st rimworld mod but i'm having a little problem with my path finding script... basically was wondering if the character path finding script that rimworld is using is available to have a look at as I was hoping i could use it to help me make one for the vehicles<---how great would this be ;D p.s: great game ty!
